The majority of the work that we do at the Integrated Design Lab - Bozeman involves daylighting analysis. We have several tools in the Lab to assist us, including an overcast sky simulator and heliodon for physical models, and software such as AGI-32 and Ecotect for digital models. Using these tools, we create models of spaces and then look at footcandle levels, direct sunlight patches, and potential glare issues throughout the day and year. Based on these results from the baseline model, we will test a few variations to see if the quantity and quality of daylight in the space can be improved. Finally we will compile these results and our recommendations in a report, which can then be reviewed by our client and further discussed with us.
